Living in the “now” – not being overcome with worry or anxiety is a challenge for each of us. It seems that in our world today, there’s no lack of things about which to worry. Our concerns are no longer just local; they’re global. Our prayers are no longer only for people whom we know; they’re for justice and peace in our families, on our streets and among distant nations that now influence [Read More…]
our own lives. Our “To Do” lists are longer and there aren’t enough hours in the day! Our lives are complicated. We find ourselves needing to make choices and decisions that we never imagined. And in all of this, we try to keep our balance! Yes, living in the “now” – not being overcome with worry or anxiety is a challenge for each of us. And so, this morning’s presentation will help us find ways to “lighten up,” to realistically embrace God’s peace in a world that is both broken and beautiful.
As many of you know, Sister Jane Schlosser has ministered for 27 years as a full-time staff member at the Carmelite Spiritual Center in Darien, IL. Jane offers retreats and workshops, and has been the presenter at our Gathering of Women on six prior occasions. She returns to us again by popular demand!
Emmaus Walk, an eight week support group for adults grieving the loss of a loved one will begin on Monday, October 5th at 7:00 pm in the Living Room of the Parish Ministry Center and continue through Monday, November 30th. Any adult grieving the recent or perhaps not so recent loss of a significant person in their lives – family member, partner, or friend – is invited and welcome to join us. During our time together various elements of the grief journey will be explored through education, discussion, and sharing in a safe and confidential setting. Because it can often be difficult to come alone, feel free to bring a friend for support. Please contact Sr. Val, group facilitator, at 847-253-8600 x 143 or Sr.Val@St-Raymond.org to register or with any questions. All are welcome!
