Stewardship is a spiritual attitude about who we are and what we have. It begins with the realization that everything we are and everything we own are gifts freely given to us by a God who loves us and calls us into relationship. With that understanding comes both a desire to somehow ‘give back’ in thanksgiving some share of all we’ve been given and a growing awareness of our responsibility to use those gifts wisely. Stewardship is this attitude of responsive and responsible gratitude.
Saint Raymond Parish relies on the generosity of our parishioners to exist to love and serve another day. Below are descriptions of different ways that you can share in your parish’s financial stability, in conjunction with or instead of your Sunday Envelope:
This option is available for your Sunday giving, sharing or any kind of donation you would like to give to Saint Raymond. Payments can be debited from you account on the 1st or the 15th of each month throughout the year. This is a wonderful way to insure that you are giving consistently to the financial support of the parish.
Use your credit card for a semi-monthly, monthly or year end gift that will be deductible as of the date of donation. A credit card form follows on this web site, and can be filled out and returned to the parish. We accept, VISA, Mastercard, Discover and American Express
This is perhaps the best way to make a gift as you can give and save at the same time. Stocks, bonds and even mutual funds that have appreciated can be given and your deduction is for the full market value at the time the gift is made. You also save by paying no capital gains tax on the sale of stock as you would have to do if you sold the stock and held the cash. See the following page to see how to transfer stock to St. Raymond parish.
You can sell stock that has declined in a down market and claim that loss on your tax return. Then, donate the cash from the sale of the stock and claim a charitable deduction on your tax return of the amount of the gift. A professional stock broker can assist you in making this type of gift.
If you are an employee or retiree of a company with a matching gift program, you can designate that a matching gift be given to the parish or the parish school. Ask your employer if they participate in such a program.
If you have any questions regarding the above please call Jack Loehr at 847-253-8600 ex. 111. As always, thank you for your generosity throughout the year.
