REminders, the R.E. newsletter, is distributed on line to parents weekly. REminders contains important information, sacramental meetings, and parish news and programs. This is our primary way of communicating to you. Our expectation is that you will read this newsletter weekly.
Another avenue for communication to parents is the “homework” sent with your child. Its goal is to provide a venue for the parent and child to discuss what they have been learning. It is called “With My Family.” The religious education session is only one hour and fifteen minutes a week. When a child returns home where faith is shared, values and life take on new meaning.
Catechists are encouraged to introduce themselves to you through a letter at the beginning of the year. Parents can meet their child’s catechist at the Opening Liturgy in September. Parents are always invited to speak with the catechist after class or by appointment about concerns or questions. Also, parents are always invited to come into their child’s classroom to observe, participate, or assist. Please note: Because we adhere to the Protecting God’s Children (Virtus) guidelines, a parent frequenting a classroom would need to attend a Protecting God’s Children Workshop. The religious education office also needs to be informed concerning any additional adults in the classroom.
